Seminar
Computer-Human-Interface Research Overview at the Beckman Institute with Emphasis on Visual Hand Tracking and Gesture Recognition.
Speaker: Prof. Thomas Huang.
Institute: Beckman Institute, University of Illinois, USA.
Time/Place: 10:00 AM, Monday, 15 Dec, in Room 031, Erskine Building.
Abstract
A general overview of CHI research at the Beckman Institute, University of Illinois. In one research program, we are interested in applying visual hand tracking to the manipulation of virtual objects. The difficulty of tracking hand-finger motion is the high dimensionality. The approach is to study the constraints of finger movement and use these constraints to reduce the search time in tracking. Preliminary results will be shown.
