Abstract
In this presentation I shall report on my on going involvement with the ESA Project sponsored by LINZ and with ISO TC211. I shall also introduce the new departmental Distributed Systems Research Group within which I have established a sub group to investigate issues associated with Distributed Geographical Information Systems (DGIS). I shall highlight two interrelated issues are actively being researched by the DGIS group. One is concerned with applying the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) to separate domain knowledge from platform specific implementation details while the other, broader, issue is concerned with using Agents to coordinate and manage updates of distributed geographic data sets within the context of Web Feature and Map Servers (WFS and WMS).View past or future seminars; or view the CSSESS Home Page.
