Abstract
One of the most succssful intelligent tutoring approaches to date is Cognitive tutors, developed at Carnegie Mellon University. The Intelligent Computer Tutoring Group (ICTG) at Canterbury develops tutors using constraint-based modelling (CBM), which has emerged as another succssful approach to tutor building. In this seminar we compare the two approaches, discuss difficulties with cross-platform evaluation, and suggest future research projects that seek both to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the two approaches and to harness them by combining both methods.View past or future seminars; or view the CSSESS Home Page.
