Abstract
Though modern computer games are impressive in many ways, a common criticism is that they have taken away much of the social aspect of gaming, as players sit focused on computer screens or televisions. Augmented reality offers a promising medium for re-introducing face to face interaction between players, by bringing game content into the real world, and allowing natural interaction through tangible user interfaces. My research investigates the use of augmented reality in table top games, and compares collaborative play in such games with modern computer games and real world face to face games.
