Abstract
Continuous advances in science and technology of computing have resulted in adoption of discrete-event computer simulation as the most popular paradigm of performance evaluation studies of such complex dynamic stochastic systems as the Internet and related multimedia telecommunication networks. Such reliance of industry and societies on simulation studies of networks raises the question of credibility of the results they yield. In this talk, we will discuss the necessary conditions for trustworthy simulation studies of networks. The perils and pitfalls of quantitative discrete-event simulations will be considered, together with their fast distributed version, known as Multiple Replications in Parallel, implemented in AKAROA2, a universal controller of distributed quantitative simulation.View past or future seminars; or view the CSSESS Home Page.
