Abstract

The student model in EER-tutor describes a particular student's knowledge of the domain. Currently it is presented to the student on request as skill meters. Although skill meters help students to improve their meta-cognitive skills, the presentation itself is rather too simple. Previous research has shown that an open student model with multiple views is more effective since it supports individual preferences for representation. The intention of this research is to develop multiple presentations of open student model in EER Tutor, including skill meters, concept list, concept hierarchy, concept map and Kiviat graphs. Student can switch between these views freely and gain not only mega-cognitive skills but also knowledge of the domain. The effectiveness of this new version will be evaluated.
