Computer Science Student Policies

Welcome to CSSE

Welcome to the Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) department. This page provides information on all the policies that apply to students taking Computer Science (COSC) courses. You need to be aware of these policies, so please take a few minutes to familiarise yourself with them, so you know roughly what they contain and will know when to refer to them in the future.

  • You will be using an account that is both a university-wide account (administered by ICTS, for things like email and internet access) and a departmental account (administered by CSSE, for things like compilers and other software for Computer Science courses). See the information on the usage of CSSE and ICTS accounts for information about what you can (and can't) do with these accounts, including resource allocations, and especially the Code of Practice.
  • Check the information on CSSE computer labs for things like rules about the usage of labs, opening hours, and after-hours support.
  • For information about rules, regulations and guidelines that apply to your academic studies, our policies on academic matters can be found in the CSSE Standard Academic Rules, Regulations, and Guidelines (CSARRG) document.
  • The university takes health and safety issues very seriously. You should make yourself familiar with the emergency and evacuation procedures before you need them, which include information on registering if you would need assistance in an emergency.
