Call for Papers - JRPIT Special Issue on Web Based Information Systems

 Special Issue of the Journal of Research and Practice in Information
 Technology on

 Web-Based Information Systems

 Submission deadline: June 15, 2001

 CALL FOR PAPERS

 Web-based information systems are information systems that allow the
 management of data and business processes over the web. This differs
 from simple and static web-sites in that web-based information
 systems are data-intensive and dynamic. They integrate web
 applications with corporate database systems and allow for complex
 e-business activities. The design, implementation and maintenance of
 web-based information systems will naturally require and rely on
 techniques from database systems, workflow systems and internet
 technology.

 We seek contributions that present novel approaches and techniques
 for the design and implementation of web-based information systems or
 that report on successful prototypes of web-based information
 systems.

 Topics include (but are not limited to):
 * Modelling and design of web-based information systems
 * Prototypes of web-based information systems
 * Mediator and integration techniques
 * Querying the Web
 * Data and web mining
 * Data and web warehousing
 * Workflows over the web
 * Access control and security in web-based information systems
 * XML and databases
 * Transaction management over the web
 * Tools for the design and implementation of web-based information
systems

 Submissions should clearly identify their contribution in the
 introduction and thoroughly compare its achievements with respect to
 related work within the paper. Successful submissions will also
 demonstrate the novelty of the presented approach by illustrative,
 realistic examples. Practice and experience papers should also
 include a reference to the web-site hosting the prototype. Papers
 (which should be clearly marked as being for the Special Issue)
 should be submitted to jrpit@cs.flinders.edu.au with a subject line
 including the words "JRPIT Special Issue - WBIS" by the deadline,
 June 15, 2001, adhering to the general guidelines for authors.

 Instructions for authors can be found at
 http://www.jrpit.flinders.edu.au/ACJAuthors.html. Papers will
 normally be between 4,500 and 5,500 words (including an allowance for
 diagrams) although longer and shorter papers will be considered.
 Papers should include a title page containing title, authors' names
 and affiliations, postal and e-mail addresses, phone and fax numbers.
 All papers should include a 100 word abstract, and a list of
 key-words or phrases. All submitted papers will be refereed in
 accordance with the usual criteria and guidelines of the Journal of
 Research and Practice in Information Technology.

 The special issue will appear as Volume 33, Issue 4, 2001 of the
Journal.
