CALL FOR PAPERS

Baltzer/ACM Journal of
Mobile Networks and Applications
(MONET)
Special Issue on
"QUALITY OF SERVICE IN HETEROGENEOUS WIRELESS
NETWORKS"
"Anywhere, anytime, anymedia" has typically been
the
utopian objective for networking researchers in
the past.
While, the significant advances in current day
communication
technologies are transforming that utopia into a
reality,
some challenges still remain. Supporting efficient
Quality
of Service (QoS) in wireless networks is one of
them.
Wireless networks span a wide variety of systems
ranging
from wireless LANs, and PCS systems, to satellite
networks,
ad hoc networks, and 3G and 4G wireless networks.
Supporting QoS in such heterogeneous environments
turns
out to be a challenging task because of the unique
characteristics of wireless networks, including
user
mobility, dynamic topologies, unreliability of
wireless
links, and scarcity of resources.
This special issue focuses on new research
contributions
in the area of quality of service in heterogeneous
wireless
networks. We solicit papers with original
solutions
enabling QoS in wireless networks. Topics of
interest
include (but are not limited to) the following
areas in the
context of wireless networks:
o Medium Access Control Protocols.
o Error Control Protocols.
o QoS Routing.
o Fault Tolerant Routing.
o Dynamic Network Infrastructures.
o QoS and Power Efficiency.
o QoS in Mobile IP.
o Transport Protocols.
o Middleware Solutions for QoS.
o Network Architectures.
o Mobility Management.
o Performance Analysis Tools.
