Call for Papers
===============
Optical networks are leaving the labs and becoming a reality. High
capacity
links are
required by the increasing Internet traffic demand. WDM systems are
widely
deployed,
thanks to low-cost and high reliability of optical components, such as
optical
amplifiers and fixed/tunable filters and transceivers. Access and
metropolitan
area
networks are increasingly based on optical technologies to overcome the
electronic
bottleneck at network edge. Traditional multi-layer architecture, such
as the
widely
deployed IP/ATM/SDH protocol stack, are already based on WDM transport;
increasing
efforts are sought to move at the optical layer some of the
functionalities
available
today in higher layers. New components and subsystems for very high
speed
optical
networks offer new design options to network operators and designers.
The Sixth Working Conference on Optical Network Design and Modelling,
aims at
presenting high-quality recent research results in optical network
architectures,
design, operation, management and planning. In the tradition of the
previous
conferences (Vienna'01,Athens'00, Paris'99, Rome'98 and Vienna'97), we
will
bring
in Torino university researchers, network operators and manufacturers,
to
discuss
and disseminate optical network design and modelling tecniques.
Contributions are invited on all topics concerning optical networks,
including:
WDM networks, systems and components
OTDM networks, systems and components
Optical packet switching
Optical networks performance modelling
QoS issues in optical networks
Routing and wavelength assignment algorithms
Physical and logical network topologies
All-optical access networks
MAC protocols and fairness control in optical LANs and MANs
High speed optical LANs and gigabit networks
Field-trials and experiments
New services over optical networks
WDM inter-working with IP, ATM and SDH networks
Inter-working between optical and wireless networks
Multi-layer design of optical networks
Optical network planning, design and modelling
Optical networks protection, restoration and reconfiguration
Self-healing SDH loops
Signalling for all-optical networks
Optical network management
Measurement, monitoring, and supervision techniques
Novel architectures for photonic switches and wavelength routers
Optical switches and optical cross-connects
Optical interfaces and optical terminals
Soliton-based networks
Optical integrated circuits

Author guidelines
=================
High-quality original papers are solicited. Papers must be unpublished
and must
not
be submitted for publication elsewhere.
All papers will be reviewed by Technical Program Committee members and
other
experts
active in the field to ensure high quality and relevance. Authors of
accepted
papers
must attend the conference to present their contributions.
The conference proceedings will be published by Kluwer Academic
Publishers.
Please
refer to Kluwer guidelines (http://www.wkap.nl/) for paper style.
Submitted
papers
have to be in Kluwer format. Paper length should be between 8 and 20
pages in
Kluwer
format.
Papers must be submitted electronically by sending compressed files
(either
Postscript
or PDF; no other formats, please) by email to
ONDM02.Workshop@mail.tlc.polito.it.
Please note that email messages larger than 2 MB cannot be accepted by
the mail
server.
Each submission must be accompanied by the following information: a
short
abstract, a
complete list of authors and their affiliations, a contact person for
correspondence,
postal and e-mail addresses
