CFP: Special Issue of Cluster Computing Journal on Dependable Distributed Systems

CALL FOR PAPERS
Cluster Computing journal
Special Issue on Dependable Distributed Systems

With the continuing development of high-performance distributed systems,
such as computational clusters and grids, greater levels of performance
and
cost effectiveness are being realized. New processor and computer
system
architectures provide the basis for achieving increased computational
performance, new high-speed network protocols and services reduce and
hide
the communication overhead, and new algorithms and applications are
mapped
and tuned for these systems to achieve the maximum efficiency, speedup,
and
scalability. Unfortunately, the ability to achieve higher levels of
node,
network, and system dependability can be an even greater challenge than
attaining higher performance. As systems become larger and more
complex,
the challenge for attaining dependable distributed systems only
escalates.

This special issue of the Cluster Computing journal will focus on
critical
issues in the design and analysis of architectures, networks,
algorithms,
applications, and services for dependable, distributed systems.
Original
papers that present research results, case studies, and experience
reports
from new systems and applications are solicited, as are survey articles.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Specific areas of interest in dependable, high-performance distributed
systems include but are not limited to the following areas:

* Application-specific algorithms for fault tolerance
* Dependability modeling and simulation of distributed systems
* Environments for the development of dependable applications
* Fault tolerance in cluster and grid architectures
* Fault tolerance in high-speed networks, nodes, or switch architectures
* Performance analysis of dependable services, applications, or systems
* Safety-critical or mission-critical distributed systems
* Scalable algorithms, systems services, etc. for fault tolerance
