WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
Growing interest in techno-economics for services and networks has given 
rise to a number of studies to support strategic decision making by 
telecommunication operators, service providers, manufacturers, and 
regulators. The workshop focuses on:

	Techno-economics of networks and services
	New mobile IP business models
	Demand for broadband fixed and mobile services
	Fixed broadband access in competitive and non-competitive areas
	Optimal pricing strategies
	New uses of broadband applications



The Workshop is organised by the  IST-TONIC (TechnO-ecoNomICs of IP 
Optimised Networks and Services) project. TONIC (IST-2000-25172) is 
dedicated to techno-economic analysis in the framework of European Union 
research projects. Techno-economics contribute to the development of 
telecom business through the economic feasibility assessment of any type
of 
technologies and services. More information in also available in

This workshop is relevant for people at all levels, from managers and 
decision makers to component and system researchers, interested in the 
economic performance of network architecture in different situations.
The 
conclusions of the workshop will help establish pertinent
recommendations 
to policymakers, network operators, and service providers regarding 
communications investment strategies.

TOPICS
This workshop addresses strategic issues faced by those involved in 
telecommunications
business.

	Cost models for regulators
	Service sets and usage patterns
	Combined access technology scenarios
	Network dimensioning

400 word-abstract submission deadline: 	15th January 2002 (new deadline)
Notification of acceptance: 			31st January 2002.
Full paper and presentation transparencies: 	30th March 2002.
