Call for Submissions
12th IEEE Workshop on Local and Metropolitan Area Networks
(LANMAN 2002)
August 11-13, 2002, Stockholm, Sweden
http://www.lanman2002.org
The IEEE LAN/MAN Workshop continues its tradition as a leading forum for
discussing the latest technical advances in networking in the local and
metropolitan areas. A focus area for the upcoming workshop will be the
emerging and strategically important field of mobile multimedia
communications. Advances in wireless packet networking lead us to
envision
the delivery of rich media to new generations of mobile, wireless
computing and communications appliances. Yet the development of
multimedia
services and delivery systems presents a number of technical challenges
and open questions.
Single-track presentations are planned to stimulate technical exchange
among researchers and practitioners with a broad interest in networking;
we specifically welcome submissions on mobile multimedia communications.
Papers should be short, focused, and provide a forum for discussion of
new
and interdisciplinary ideas. Novel and speculative ideas are
particularly
encouraged.
One page text abstracts are solicited on any LAN/MAN topic including but
not limited to:
* Wireless data services * Emerging access networks:
* Session initiation Ethernet in the First Mile, EPONs
and control * Mobile multimedia architectures
* Streaming media protocols * Advances in Metropolitan Area Networks,
* Personal area networks Resilient Packet Rings
* Low-power networking * Internet traffic management
* Home networking * Content distribution architectures
* Mobile-aware applications * Next Generation Wireless Networks
* Optical networks and DWDM * Measurement and modeling of network
operation and performance
The 12th LAN/MAN workshop will be held August 11-13, 2002 in Stockholm,
Sweden. Stockholm is located at the center of innovation for the mobile
telecommunications industry, providing a perfect setting for this
workshop.
Submission, Review and Publication: Please send a one-page TEXT proposal
abstract by electronic mail to lanman2002@hpl.hp.com. Include the e-mail
addresses and fax numbers of all the authors, and identify the
corresponding
author. Only abstracts and copies of slides are included in the
proceedings,
so please do not send or prepare full papers. Selected papers are
planned
for a post-conference journal publication.
