FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS of PERFORMANCE TOOLS 2003
13th International Conference on Modelling
Techniques and Tools for Computer Performance Evaluation
http://www.crhc.uiuc.edu/Multi/tools.html
Urbana, Illinois, USA
September 2-5, 2003
Organized by: University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
In cooperation with: Universitaet Dortmund
GENERAL
TOOLS 2003 will be hosted at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign,
Illinois, USA. The conference will take place under the umbrella of the
2003
Illinois International Multiconference on Measurement, Modelling, and
Evaluation of Computer-Communication Systems. In addition to TOOLS
2003, the
multiconference will comprise the 10th International Workshop on Petri
Nets
and Performance Models (PNPM '03), the International Conference on the
Numerical Solution of Markov Chains (NSMC'03), and the 6th International
Workshop on Performability Modeling of Computer and Communications Systems
(PMCCS-6). TOOLS, PNPM, and NSMC will take place on the campus of the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; PMCCS will be hosted at the
Allerton Park and Conference Center, a secluded park near the university.
The proceedings of TOOLS 2003 will be published in the Springer-Verlag
Lecture Notes in Computer Science series, and selected papers from the
conference will be considered for publication in a special issue of
Performance Evaluation Journal.
SCOPE
The primary aim of the Performance Tools conference series is to further
the
theory and technology of tool-based performance evaluation of computer and
communication systems. Important themes for the thirteenth conference in
this successful series include (but are not restricted to):
- software tools for system performance and evaluation
- simulation techniques
- analytical/numerical modeling techniques
- optimization techniques
- performance measurement/benchmarking
- formal methods
- case studies showing the role of evaluation in the design of systems
- applications including high-speed networking, mobile communication,
and the Internet
TOOLS 2003 PAPER SUBMISSION
Paper submissions should not have been published previously, or
concurrently
submitted for publication elsewhere, and should not exceed 20 double-spaced
pages. Accepted papers will be published in a volume of Springer-Verlag's
Lecture Notes in Computer Science
(http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/index.html) devoted to the conference;
authors are encouraged to view the author instructions web page for the
LNCS
series (http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html). The registration of
at least one of the authors must accompany the camera-ready copy submission
of each accepted publication. From the accepted papers, the program
committee will select a small number of papers for possible publication in
Performance Evaluation in extended form, subject to further review.
Authors are required to submit their papers as postscript or PDF files via
the web: http://www.crhc.uiuc.edu/Multi/tools.html
TOOL DESCRIPTION AND DEMONSTRATION SUBMISSION
Proposals to present and demonstrate tools for performance evaluation of
computer and communication systems are also solicited. Each accepted tool
can be presented in a short (10-minute) presentation and will be allowed a
four-page summary in a tools description booklet which will be
distributed at
the multiconference. Please submit tool description and demonstration
summaries (subject to the page limitations to the Multiconference Tools
Chair, Falko Bause (falko.bause@udo.edu) by the date listed below.
TOOLS 2003 TUTORIAL SUBMISSION
Tutorial proposals are solicited on various topics concerning the
performance evaluation of computer and communication systems. Please
contact the Tutorials Chair, Aad van Moorsel(aad@hpl.hp.com), to submit a
tutorial proposal or for more information.
