Welcome to this month's SCS Simulation News. This electronic
newsletter is published monthly and sent to your email address.

Our purpose is to keep SCS members and others in the modeling and
simulation communities up to date on the activities of the Society
for Computer Simulation International. Please forward this newsletter
to friends, peers and colleagues with interests in modeling and
simulation.

Please send comments and suggestions to the newsletter editor,

1. News and developments in modeling and simulation

* Volunteers needed

Fellow SCS Members, do you want to get more involved in the
operation of your Society? Volunteers are needed to serve on the
Bylaws Committee and the Policies & Procedures Committee. Most of
the committee work will be be done by using an e-mail reflector.
If you are interested, contact Wayne Ingalls
   mailto:wayne.ingalls@scs.org

* Economics of Modeling and Simulation

An SCS Technical Chapter on the Economics of Modeling and Simulation
has been formed. This chapter, in conjunction with a group from
SISO, has commenced an effort to compile articles, presentations,
and other information related to the economics of simulation.
If you would like to join a Data Compilation Work Group, or if you
have questions about the kinds of data being solicited, contact
Ms. Jackie Steele maiilto:Jackie.Steele@smdc.army.mil for SCS or
Dr. Steve Gordon mailto:steve.gordon@afams.af.mil for SISO.

* Nominations for DoD Modeling and Simulation Awards

The nomination period for the 2000 Department of Defense Modeling
and Simulation (M&S) Awards has been extended to Dec. 15. Awards
will be presented May 30 during the 10th annual DMSO Industry Days.
Nomination procedures and forms for government nominees are
   available at http://www.dmso.mil/awards/. Industry applicants
   should go to http://www.ndia.org/forms/ntsa/nomform.htm
All units, organizational elements and individuals -- both civilian
employees and active duty service members -- of the DoD components
that are involved with the development and/or use of M&S are
eligible. For more information about the M&S awards program
contact Larry Alexander, M&S Awards Project Lead, (703) 824-3404
