Welcome to this month's SCS Simulation News. This electronic
newsletter is published monthly and sent to your email address.

Our purpose is to keep SCS members and others in the modeling and
simulation communities up to date on the activities of the Society
for Computer Simulation International. Please forward this newsletter
to friends, peers and colleagues with interests in modeling and
simulation.

Please send comments and suggestions to the newsletter editor,

1. News and developments in modeling and simulation

* Introducing the Centre for Advanced Computational Solutions (C-fACS)

This is a distributed research center headquartered at Lincoln
University, New Zealand whose members at different sites collaborate
through the internet and other media. At present, C-fACS members
are developing new technologies in artificial intelligence, machine
vision, image processing, computational modelling and simulation,
open system (Linux) solutions, computational and experimental
mechanics, fuzzy neural networks, and non-invasive imaging. They
are seeking interested members of the simulation community.
   For further information, visit http://www.cfacs.co.nz

* Modeling and Simulation Professional Certification Program in
   development

The Modeling and Simulation Professional Certification
Implementation Group has been working on a plan to develop a
certification program for persons in the modeling and simulation
profession. The group contains representatives from several
professional societies, including SCS, as well as others in the
M&S community. A draft plan has been developed, and is in the
   review and comment phase.
