1. News and developments in modeling and simulation
* Appearing very soon: the first edition of the new Modeling and
Simulation Magazine will be appearing as an insert in SIMULATION.
It will include general interest items such as columns by well-known
M&S personalities, news, product introductions, technology
breakthroughs, etc.
* The McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences at California State
University, Chico has been awarded a grant by the Office of Naval
Research of $847,610 over 3 years to develop real-time simulations
of power electronics systems. The project will be performed by a
team of faculty and students led by Dr. Roy Crosbie, (former
President
of SCS) and Dr. John Zenor. The team is advised by Dr. Narain
Hingorani, a world-renowned expert on power electronics technology.
More information on the McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences is

3. Publications
Watch this area over the next few months for more information about
the roll-out of these new SCS publications:
* Modeling and Simulation Magazine. The first issue will appear as
an insert into SIMULATION beginning with the March, 2001 issue.
It will continue to be published in this format quarterly
throughout 2001.
* SIMULATION: Transactions of The Society for Modeling and
Simulation, International. This new publication will unify the
society's research efforts, beginning in January 2002.
* Our web vault is at http://scs.affinitycity.com Check it out.
