			CALL FOR PAPERS

	2002 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIMULATION AND MULTIMEDIA
		IN ENGINEERING EDUCATION (ICSEE '02)

			January 27-31, 2002
			San Antonio, Texas

Part of the 2002 Western MultiConference on Computer Simulation (WMC'02)
  Sponsored by The Society for Computer Simulation International (SCS)

Please see http://www.scs.org for latest information on this conference

************************************************************************

The ICSEE 2002 conference will bring together experts, instructional
technology researchers and practitioners throughout the world to share
technical ideas and experiences relating to implementation and
application of modeling, simulation, multimedia and allied technologies
in support of education. Major topics of interest include but are not
limited to the following:

* Development of multimedia models and their application in
  engineering education;
* Multimedia technologies for engineering education;
* Integrating voice- and video- based systems in teaching and learning;
* Distance learning, distributed learning, Web based instruction;
* New educational paradigms (virtual classrooms, tele-immersion,
  networked tele-collaboration and Web television);
* Internet-based visualization, on-line courses, integration of
  Internet resources in the curriculum;
* Computer assisted collaborative learning;
* Virtual reality and potential application in engineering education;
* Distance education: experience at schools, universities, industry and
  other academic fields such as arts, engineering, business, medicine
* Modeling and simulation for engineering education;
* Classroom simulations using computer animation;
* Java applet-based simulations for engineering education;
* Simulation languages, packages, and simulation-based curricula;
* Computer-based and simulation-integrated laboratories;
* New software and hardware developments and their impact on
  engineering education;
* Experiences in integrating computers and software tools in
  engineering education;
* Evaluation of student performance in computer-based education;
* Ethics and engineering education;
* Government and corporate programs and support of computer and
  multimedia-based engineering education
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Original papers are invited for possible publication in topical areas
related to the items listed above or other topics relating to the fast
growing area of modeling (both analytical and computational), simulation
and visualization (and their comparison with experiments and
observations), and simulation and multimedia-based engineering
education. Authors of accepted papers are expected to attend the
conference, present their work to their peers, transfer copyright, and
pay a conference registration fee at the time of submission of their
final paper in PDF form.

REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES for SUBMISSION of PAPERS:
The refereeing process for the presentations will be based on full
papers. Papers must not have been previously presented or published, nor
currently submitted for publication. Each manuscript will be subjected
to a rigorous refereeing process. The accepted papers will be published
in the ICSEE'02 proceedings by the "The Society for Computer Simulation
International". The following paper submission guidelines should be
strictly followed:

1. Submit electronically a 300/400-word abstract to the General Chair,
by MAY 20, 2001. Abstracts are due to arrive at the address of the
General Chair as an attachment to an E-mail message (in PostScript, MS
Word, or PDF format).
2. A cover sheet should show the title of the paper, the author(s)
name(s) and affiliation(s), and the address of the contacting author
(including e-mail, telephone, and fax) to which the correspondence
should be sent.
3. Feedback on the appropriateness of the abstract will be sent by the
General Chair to the contacting authors via e-mail by JUNE 1, 2001.
4. Full papers should be electronically submitted as a PDF file to the
SCS Manuscript Central site http://scs.proceedingscentral.com/ by AUGUST
30, 2001.
Papers received after this date will be considered as long as time and
program space permit. Each paper must follow the SCS Authors Kit
Guidelines available at http://www.scs.org.
5. Notifications of acceptance status will be sent on or about OCTOBER
1,
2001.
6. Final manuscripts need also to be electronically submitted as a PDF
file to the SCS Manuscript Central site
http://scs.proceedingscentral.com
no later than NOVEMBER 1, 2001 to guarantee inclusion in the Conference
Proceedings and in the final program schedule.

IMPORTANT DATES:
MAY 20, 2001 Abstract Submission due to the General Chair
JUNE 1, 2001 Feedback on appropriateness of the abstract by
			the General Chair
AUGUST 30, 2001 Full Paper Submission
OCTOBER 1, 2001         Author Notification
NOVEMBER 1, 2001        Camera-ready Copy

Special Issue:
A selection of papers presented at the Conference will be considered
for publishing in a journal Special Issue devoted to ICSEE'02 after
the Conference and an additional review process (pending approval).
