EMAC 2003 ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS AND APPLICATION
JULY 9-11, 2003
Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre
a meeting embedded in ICIAM 2003 July 7-11, 2003
* EMAC is for researchers and practitioners in mathematics and
engineering
* EMAC has refereed conference proceedings
* EMAC is recognised as professional development for engineers
The Engineering Mathematics and Applications Conference is a biennial
meeting which is organised to provide a forum for researchers and
practitioners working in engineering mathematics and in engineering.
One section of the conference will concern the mathematical and
statistical education of engineers. The conference is supported by
the Institution of Engineers, Australia and practicing engineers are
able to count their participation in the conference towards their
Professional Development requirement. We anticipate that a significant
number of international participants will give their papers in the
EMAC sessions.
For 2003, EMAC is embedded within the International Congress of
Industrial and Applied Mathematics (ICIAM 2003). ICIAM is a congress
of enormous significance to the global mathematical community and
it is with great enthusiasm that EMAC 2003 has associated itself
with this major event.
The organisers of ICIAM anticipate around 2000 researchers and
industrial users of mathematics will be attending. There is an
extremely strong invited speaker program of 27 international
specialists. Many of these will be relevant to the interests of
EMAC attendees. In addition, there will be many specialised symposia
on a wide variety of topics coordinated by leading researchers.
ICIAM will also feature a wide range of contributed papers.
Proceedings
Proceedings will be published for EMAC 2003. These will be fully
refereed in accordance with DEST guidelines. Papers will be
reviewed before the meeting and proceedings available at the meeting.
The submission date for papers is 1st March 2003.
Students are encouraged to submit papers.
The editors for the proceedings are Rob May and Bill Blyth from RMIT
University. Guidelines will be available from the EMAC website in
November 2002.
Dates and Location
ICIAM 2003 will be held over five days, from July 7 to 11, 2003.
The EMAC 2003 embedded sessions will be conducted during the last
three days of the meeting. The venue for ICIAM 2003 is the
Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, located in Darling Harbour.
Registration for EMAC 2003
To attend EMAC 2003 delegates register for ICIAM 2003, and
indicate on their registration an affiliation with EMAC.
A single registration covers all events within ICIAM 2003.
In addition there are other related meetings which EMAC delegates
have traditionally attended. These include ANZIAM 2003, the
Computational Techniques and Applications Conference CTAC 2003,
the Australian Society for Operations Research ASOR 2003 and
the National Symposium on Financial Mathematics.
Registration for ICIAM may be completed by visiting the web site
http://www.iciam.org/
where full online facilities for registration, abstract submission,
accommodation booking are available.
Dates for Registration and Abstract Submission
29th November 2002: Earlybird registration
31st January 2003: Last date for abstract submission
(Note: to help our planning please submit as soon as possible)
1st March 2003: Full papers
EMAC Abstract Submission and Paper Preparation
Delegates wishing to present papers at EMAC sessions and have
their papers reviewed for publication in the proceedings of
EMAC 2003 must first submit their abstract through the ICIAM
abstract submission system. Authors need to identify their
abstract as an EMAC presentation. This should be done by:
(i) Commencing the abstract with the phrase,
"This is an EMAC abstract"
(ii) Entering EMAC as a key word in the box for key words
Details of paper preparation for accepted abstracts will be
provided at the website in November 2002.
