Applications of Tag Clouds in Information and Software Visualisation

Abstract

Tag clouds have become popular as a mechanism for visualising the information content of data such as blogs and political speeches. In this paper, we extend the tag cloud concept to make it more effective as a general information visualisation technique. We illustrate our work with examples drawn from our software visualisation work and describe a prototype tool, Taggle, that we have developed to implement our ideas.
