I teach computer science at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, and conduct research in the areas of discrete event simulation and the use of visual representation and animation in programming languages and multimedia systems. Since 1998 I have been a member of the advisory board for the book series "Advances in Computer Science", published by Springer Verlag.
