This prototype was built largely from Meccano, plus a number of non-Meccano parts from various sources. Most of these are substitutes for standard Meccano parts. A few are custom-designed, notably the carefully-shaped pieces of aluminium sheet which do the actual folding, and the plastic paper guides; it was not feasible to make these from Meccano parts on the small scale required.
